Moqorro

Moqorro is a towering, powerful priest of R'hllor, the Lord of Light, whose black skin is covered with flame-shaped tattoos and whose voice booms like a bass drum. He is rescued from the sea by the Iron Fleet after his ship, the Selaesori Qhoran, is destroyed in a storm, having clung to a broken spar for ten days. When brought before Victarion Greyjoy, Moqorro immediately demonstrates his prophetic power, claiming to have seen Victarion in his nightfires and warning him that he is surrounded by invisible tentacles that make him a puppet. He offers to heal the festering wound on Victarion's hand, a wound that has resisted all treatment, promising that the process will involve terrible pain but will restore the hand. Victarion, desperate and impressed, accepts, and Moqorro performs a ritual involving a blade, a brazier, and fire, leaving Victarion's arm charred and blackened but stronger than before. From that point, Moqorro becomes Victarion's most trusted, if feared, counselor, interpreting the flames to guide the fleet's course and predict the capture of enemy ships. He translates the Valyrian glyphs on the dragonhorn, Dragonbinder, revealing that it is named 'I am Dragonbinder' and that 'No mortal man shall sound me and live,' but that the dragons will come to the horn's master, who must claim it with blood. Moqorro's presence divides the ironborn crew, who call him the Black Flame and view him with suspicion and fear, but Victarion, believing he now has two gods on his side, protects him. Moqorro's ultimate loyalty is to Daenerys Targaryen, whom he serves as a humble slave of R'hllor, and he is the one who assures Victarion that the dragon queen is not dead, a truth the iron captain violently enforces by killing those who claim otherwise. His role is that of a powerful, enigmatic, and dangerous figure, a sorcerer whose magic is both a tool and a threat, and whose true purpose remains aligned with the prophecy of Azor Ahai and the coming of Daenerys.
